Blockchain Revolution in Global Trade

Revolutionary technologies change the face of modern trade and work in significant ways, but none of it was accepted by the public immediately. Blockchain has long remained in the shadow of cryptocurrency leaps, and its real potential for information management and application in business was considered by companies only as an experiment. But now it has become absolutely clear that blockchain technology can make global trade and work safer, more transparent and manageable.

The WTO invited managers of number of companies to share their experience and opinions on the use and implementation of blockchain. The Global Trade and Blockchain Forum will be held on 2-3 December in Geneva.

This event marks a new period in the relationship of business and trade to blockchain. Now this technology is seriously taken by companies as a step towards digitizing the processes of trade, delivery and others. This is what the speakers of the sessions of the forum will tell about.

First, blockchain can make international trade procedures much easier. When it comes to different countries with different laws, standards, documentation languages, the use of blockchain-based information technology can significantly reduce, simplify and automate a lot of tasks. Implementation of blockchain-based tools is necessary for data management in various spheres from trade finance, to transportation and logistics and border procedures.

Experts invited to the forum will also share their vision of the future of agriculture and blockchain assistance in its development. Tracking, planning and analyzing information from the entire сhain of growing, delivery and sale of food can dramatically change the whole agriculture industry, making it easier and safer for both entrepreneurs and customers.

Digitalization will also eliminate the constant problems of IP industries that need a secure and unified database system.

The forum speakers will also highlight the possibilities of new technologies for developing countries and what could be done to ensure that they reap the benefits that these technologies open.

It is a great success that we can see digitalization having a significant impact, continuing to gather momentum and extending its reach. Even conservative in their actions large companies implement technologies into their internal and external processes. This WTO Global Trade and Blockchain Forum gathers international and global organizations, so it can fundamentally change the regulatory and policy framework and free blockchain technology from unnecessary standards-related barriers.
